Rainbow River Conservation has installed and maintained Wood Duck boxes on the Rainbow River for over twenty-five years.
The clear water and attractive habitat of the marshes and undeveloped corridor on the east side of the river have made this project very successful with a high production rate of Wood Duck broods, over 98 %.
In 2019, with the financial support of the Duke Energy Foundation, large box number signs were installed on most of the Wood Duck boxes to allow river users to have a reference of where they are on the river. The goal is to have a well-defined reference location if there is a health emergency and a quick response is required.
The Table shows the Longitude and Latitude of each box number shown on the map.
